Books by Thomas J. Kane

Ideas shape behavior.

Behavior shapes outcomes.

These books explore character, influence, communication, and responsibility… for people who want clarity in a noisy world.

It has become increasingly rare to find people who genuinely care about the quality of their work, not just the outcome, but the effort, responsibility, and integrity behind it. It’s rare to find individuals who recognize when an agreement unfairly favors them and voluntarily correct it so both sides receive equal value, not based on time alone, but on contribution and impact.

It’s rare to find businesses that aren’t afraid to answer the phone, especially when the call may involve hard questions, accountability, or time spent solving a real problem. Too often, the focus shifts from “How can we help each other succeed?” to “What do I get out of this?”

After working with hundreds of people and well over a hundred businesses, I’ve learned these lessons the hard way. The principles below weren’t created in theory; they were forged through experience, wrong turns, and difficult decisions.
They are nonnegotiable.

Do What I Say I Will

If I commit to something, I do it every time. If circumstances change, I communicate early, explain why, and make the task a priority. My word matters.

Always Answer

I believe accessibility is a responsibility, not an inconvenience. I answer my phone personally, not an answering service, because no one is too small, and no issue is unimportant. If I ever miss a call, I return it promptly.

Fair Agreements Only

I only enter into agreements that are clear, ethical, and mutually beneficial. I will not accept or offer an arrangement where I know one side is disadvantaged. Longterm success requires fairness, not leverage.

TopQuality Work, Every Time

Every project receives the same level of care, depth, and attention, no shortcuts, no exceptions. “Good enough” is not good enough.

Do What’s Right, Even When It’s Hard

If I believe a decision will cost you time, money, or longterm success, I will say so, even if it’s uncomfortable. That includes telling you when a strategy needs to be redone or when a better path exists, even at the risk of losing a client.

I Will Not Participate in Failure

If you want to move forward with an approach that contradicts facts, data, and proven outcomes , after honest discussion , I will step aside. I protect my work, my reputation, and your future. I participate only in strategies designed for success.

Admit When I’m Wrong

If I discover a better approach after work has begun, I correct course immediately, without ego. If a client presents a better idea than mine, I adopt it. Progress matters more than pride.

Character Over Reputation

Reputation is what people think you are. Character is what you do when no one is watching. What I say I am and how I operate are the same, publicly and privately.

Resourcefulness

If I can’t do something directly, I know how to get it done. I maintain a trusted network of professionals who share these same values, allowing me to solve problems beyond my own skill set when needed.

Who I Choose to Work With

These principles define not only how I work, but who I work with. If you value integrity, fairness, accountability, and longterm thinking in both business and life, we will work well together. Those are my people.
